Dear Church Family,
Christmas Blessings! What a wonderful time of year it is as once again we pause and remember the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know the word “pause” might seem odd to use during this time of year when everything about the season seems to be so chaotic. Yet, I believe it is important for us to “pause on purpose” if we really want to have a meaningful Christmas. We know that Jesus Christ came to this earth with purpose, and the primary purpose was to “seek and to save the lost” as we read in Luke 9:1; “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” When we think about the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, it is sometimes difficult to remember that His start in this world was beyond humble! He was not born in a royal palace, but a lowly stable. His clothing was not kingly robes, but simple pieces of cloth wrapped around His tiny body. His birth speaks of the humility of our Savior, and serves as an example to us. We are not “above” others in this world as we journey toward eternity. Live Humbly! Those of you who are parents know how quickly those little ones grow up! It seems with each passing week there is some kind of change as they move through the various stages of life. Very little is known about the life of Christ during His early years. Oh, but the stories abound once He began His earthly ministry! Souls saved, bodies healed, and lives transformed by the power of Christ, which gave both hope to the masses and produced envy in the religious crowd. His next stop would be the crass. Think about in! He became the substitute for our sin. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ.” Live Sacrificially! One day we will know that all of humanity will stand before Christ in judgement, and every knew will bow down before Him. The message of Christmas does not stop at the cradle! The same Jesus who came so humbly to the cradle and dies sacrificially on the cross, is the same one who is both now and forevermore victorious with His crown! “Lord of Lords and King of Kings” The crown speaks of victory, so I encourage you today to trust in Christ! Remember Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Live Victoriously! As we think about closing out the old year and starting a new year, may we remember that it is “Christ in us, the Hope of Glory.” Merry Christmas and God Bless We Love You Church! From your Staff Families Warm Greetings!
My family and I would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest appreciation for the kindness, love, and support you have shown to us. Your cards, notes, letters and gifts have been so kind and generous, yet let me assure you that it is your prayers that are most highly valued and needed. We also want to say thank you to the Appreciation Committee, you put in so much thought and effort into making the night so amazing!! The service was so encouraging hearing Jennifer's testimony and our son's kind words. And we loved the Children and Adult choir special. Overall it was such an encouraging time for us. Penny and I often express to each other our thanksgiving to the Lord. He has called us to be just a small part of what He is doing here at Center Point. It has been our great joy to serve here with you over the last 19 years. We are ever mindful of the honor of being called “Pastor”. We believe it is vitally important that we, as God's servants, are always mindful of WHO has called us into this ministry, as well as remembering the reason He has called us! Lives are being changed. Souls are being saved. The Kingdom of God is being advanced in this area. We are thrilled and excited that you’ve chosen to partner with us as we continue to grow and reach out into the harvest field which is ripe! You have made our ministry more effective because of your love and sacrifice. We look forward to even greater things in the future as God enables us to impact our community and world for the sake of the Gospel! Again, thank you! Blessings in Christ, The Moormans Even though you can't physically see any progress
toward the construction of our new sanctuary, I assure you that work is taking place behind the scenes. We are working with our contractor and architect to finalize floor plans, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical plans as well as metal building plans for fabrication. This consists of us making minor changes (tweaking) to what has been presented to us. The specifications for the steeple and baptistry have been submitted for incorporation into the plans. We are meeting with our contractor within the next few days for more discussion and work toward getting a final set of plans. Once we receive the final drawings they will be submitted to the City of Scottsboro for permitting and approval so that we may begin construction. Please continue to pray as we get closer to having our new sanctuary We are looking forward to the tremendous things God is going to do through the ministries of CPBC as we move into the fall season. Many ministries are gearing up to be stronger than ever as they seek to be a blessing to both our church and community.
Time is one of those things we all have on our hands. We might feel like we have a lot of time or only a little time, but the reality of it is that we ALL have the same amount of time to invest. It’s up to us to however, HOW we spend that time! If you had a bank that credited your account each morning with $86,400 but carried over no balance from day to day… Allowed you to keep no cash in your account, and every evening cancelled whatever part of the amount you failed to use during the day. What would you do? You would draw out every cent every day of course, and use it to your advantage! Well you have such a bank, and it’s name is TIME! Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. It carries over no balances, it allows no overdrafts. If we fail to use this day, the loss is ours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against tomorrow. I encourage you to consider the ministries of the church as you “budget” your time. We tend to make time for the things we consider to be of the greatest importance, whether it be things that will benefit us in a financial way, or family relationships, or a myriad of other things that shout for our attention. Is there possibility a ministry in the church you can see yourself serving in? Are you doing your best to live a life of purpose for the Lord? While we have ALL failed in our lives, I’m so thankful we don’t have to continue to live that way! May we all walk with the Lord together and seek for ways to be a blessing to others. Blessing in Christ, Pastor Dear Church Family,
It is truly amazing to think about God’s faithfulness to His church on Tupelo Pike over the past 175 years. You and I have the privilege of being linked to the saints of old and of being the bright future that God has granted us. As we come together to celebrate our rich heritage of faith, I pray that you will be blessed and encouraged as we remember the past and celebrate our future. Dan Garland will be preaching the message to help us celebrate our 175th anniversary on September 10th . I know you will be blessed for being a part of this important day. We also ask that you prayerfully consider your sacrificial gift toward the construction of our new sanctuary. By God’s grace, we believe each day brings us closer. As with any step of faith, we have experienced many obstacles, but we truly believe that God is already bringing the victory. These truly are exciting times in the life of our church and we praise God for His blessings past, current, and future. Please come and celebrate with us. LOVE BRO. DAVID Dear Church Family,
As we close out another summer together, I wanted to take a moment to let your know how much we have appreciated your presence here at CPBC in the middle of a busy season in life. I also want to encourage you to continue to be faithful during our Sunday School ministry each week. Most of us who have been brought up in church from an early age remember some of the great stories of the Bible. They were taught to us in such a way that have become etched upon our souls, as they declare the awesomeness of a miracle working God. The stories such as David and Goliath, Samson, Daniel in the lion's den, Moses and the children of Israel, Jesus healing the sick, and so on came alive as faithful teachers shared them from the Word of God. These stories are not only fascinating to hear, but the truths contained in them can truly build foundations that can last a lifetime. Around here, Sunday School is not just for the kids! We have some tremendous classes for young people as well as our adults. Classes that are taught by capable, mature Christians, who know how to make the Word of God relate to your life. The Bible says in Hosea 4:6 " My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...." While we understand that verse is from the Old Testament and is clearly talking about the people of Israel, the principle is still the same.... without knowledge, especially of God's Word, we will never grow into all God wants us to be! I want to encourage each of you to consider joining us for Sunday School at 9:30 AM , and even invite a friend! LOVE BRO. DAVID |
