Being a senior adult does sometimes have its challenges, but being in such a wonderful church can make us feel closer to God because we are allowed to stay active and productive by serving God and our community. Whether it is teaching, sharing, cooking, retreats, Sunday school, Bible studies, day trips, or weekend trips. the senior adults of Center Point love to serve our fellow man by serving God each and every day.
Our church activities are a way for us to share our faith and hope with others. We are constantly organizing and participating in various trips and also serve in activities for the community. Some of our seniors help with Meals on Wheels meal distribution program through our local CASA, where we are able to reach out to people in various locations in our community who need a hot meal brought to them each day. Some participate in weekly prayer meetings, where they intercede on each other’s behalf before God. Others take part in potluck –style fellowship meeting where they can enjoy a meal and meet other Christian seniors to reminisce. Others are working diligently trying to collect money for Mission projects, including Annie Armstrong and Lottie Moon offerings each year. Here at Center Point, our senior adults are welcomed to help with our children programs, including AWANA and Vacation Bible School. Some ride the vans to pick up the children; others teach classes or provide refreshments. Some of our seniors participate each week in a Sunday Morning service at one of our local Nursing homes, providing Christian music and a message from God for those who are not able to attend a local church. Other seniors serve as Sunday school teachers, and/or, participate in the church choir. The list of service for senior adults at Center Point Baptist Church is never ending. There is plenty to be done and we gladly share in service to our God and our community. In addition to our service at the church, we take an annual weekend trip to Smokey Mountains the 2nd weekend of November, where senior adults participate and have a great time of true Christian fellowship. Other trips may include festivals, concerts, or sometimes just a nice dinner together at one of our local restaurants. |
